The Digital Literacy Curriculum equips teachers and hobby activity organizers across Europe to help young people – and the wider community – use technology critically, creatively, and safely. It combines clear learning pathways (primary to upper secondary) with modular activities that fit regular classes, clubs, and multidisciplinary projects. Core areas include information and media literacy, online safety and wellbeing, digital citizenship, collaboration, coding and data basics, and emerging AI awareness. The curriculum aligns with UNESCO ICT (UNESCO, 2018; UNESCO, 2022a) and AI Competency Framework (UNESCO, 2021; UNESCO, 2022b), European Framework for Digital Competence (European Schoolnet, 2020; Redecker, 2017; Vuorikari et al., 2016) and the Global Framework for Digital Literacy (SDG 4.4.2), UNESCO Institute for Statistics, 2018. Practical supports – lesson plans, inclusive design guidance, rubrics, and teacher training – enable easy adoption in diverse contexts, including low-resource settings. We are actively researching how to integrate AI tools and competencies responsibly in the next version of the curriculum to reduce divides and boost participation.
